Austin oasis

I spent an afternoon with Pickle, wandering the fitness trail that runs along Lake Austin. Sporting opportunities abound, and the path gives a great sense of the city's toned and tan flavor.

...and a beer to finish it off.

Tip: road running

Remember: when on a road without a sidewalk, runners stay left, facing oncoming traffic... 'Cause it's better to look your fate in the eyes than be taken by surprise from the back.

Welcome to Reho run and ride

For the next week in Rehoboth beach I am Nathan's training buddy (and motivation) as he trains for the NYC Triathlon. So far we've had two exploratory ventures to get the lay of the land.

Run around the neighborhood, to the beach and past the rich people houses at Silver Lake:

Brooklyn, New York Harbor run along Belt Parkway Promenade

Easiest place to start is Owl's Head Park in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. Head toward the water and you'll find a bike and pedestrian path that leads down to a pedestrian jetty and a wonderfully wide running path right along the water's edge, looking over to Staten Island and the Verizano Bridge.

Run distance is variable depending on the pedestrian overpass you choose to cross back over to shore road, which is a pretty specific slice of Bay Ridge realness.
